The traditional rocking horse has been a mainstay of children’s rooms and nurseries for many years and is as popular today as ever. Thanks, in part, to modern production methods the opportunity of providing your child with his or her very own rocking horse is no longer the preserve of the well-off. Although a genuine hand crafted traditional wooden horse will usually cost £1,000 or more there are also many economical alternatives available to buy for much less.

History of the Rocking Horse

The history of the children’s play horse can be traced back as far as ancient Greek times although these bore little resemblance to the rocking horses we are familiar with today. In the middle Ages it was common for children to play act jousting tournaments and wheeled wooden horses were often crafted for this purpose.

Over the years rocking horses have evolved from simple and crude designs to the lifelike, sophisticated and ornate creations that we know today.

The most common form of horse, on bow rockers, is thought to have been created to help young children develop a sense of balance which would be advantageous when starting to ride real horses. A later development was the safety-stand type horse which was an American development in the late nineteenth century to combat the problem of bow rockers moving around the floor when being ridden. This design became more popular for a while although the bow rocker is still favoured by many for its traditional look.

In the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries it became common to finish the horses by painting and traditionally they would be high gloss white with black spots or dappled grey. Although the type of finish achieved was very tactile and durable it was a very labour intensive process which involved a lot of sanding down and applying multiple coats of paint and lacquer. This, of course, meant that rocking horses were very expensive and only the privileged could afford to buy them. Less fortunate children had to make do with much less sophisticated alternatives, their young imaginations making up for the lack of detail.

Affordable Rocking Horses

Fortunately nowadays, many manufacturers and craftsmen are able to automate a lot of the time demanding process such as sanding down, which has made wooden horses much more economical to produce and affordable to buy.

Some antique rocking horses have become collector’s items and even a horse made today will hold its value for a considerable time. Another benefit of a wooden rocking horse is that they don’t need feeding or wear out. It’s not uncommon for some horses to be passed down from one generation to the other which, naturally, is another benefit in today’s ‘disposable’ age.

So if you want to provide your child with an activity toy which will always be in fashion and last forever then you could do worse than invest in a traditional The end of the tree.

Women’s lab coats are more feminine then they used to be. Long gone are the straight white lab coats and just hanging off your shoulders and doing nothing for your figure. Today there are princess seams stitched into the lab coats and darts and pleats to help accentuate your figure.

There are two brands of lab coats that offer lace and embroidering. One brand has embroidering around the collar and on the pocket flaps to add a more feminine touch to this short lab coat. In addition it has pleats in the sleeves and a button belt in the back. The other brand has eyelet lace around the collar and around each sleeve at the ends of the three-quarter sleeve. This gives a very feminine look about the white lab coats.

Women’s lab coats that are long also have accents which make them more feminine than the plain straight white lab coats. They have pleats and darts which helped to bring the coat in so it’s not as straight in this helps to accentuate your figure rather than hide it behind a straight white lab coat.

The latest white women lab coat that everyone seems to want is the jeweled neck long lab coat that features knitted cuffs at the end of the sleeves. The waste is cinched in the back to help give you a waistline. This long white lab coats doubles as a jacket in the winter months, you can put it over your scrubs or nurses outfit.

There are short coats that look like jackets or blazers. Sometimes these are called consultant lab coats which doctors normally wear when consulting patients or doing their morning rounds at the hospital. The women’s consultation lab coats are more tailored for formfitting look.

There are short ladies lab coats that come to their waist that have three-quarter length sleeves for the summer time or if you are a naturally a warm blooded person this lab coat would be ideal for you. The three-quarter length sleeves are also ideal for when working on patients so that your sleeves are not rubbing against wounds or getting messy in the process of fixing someone’s wounds.

There are several colors for lab coats besides the plain white. Colors often brighten up an office or a ward on a hospital wing, especially a children’s ward. Colors for women’s lab coats vary from manufacturer to manufacturer of the most common colors include varying shades of blue, yellow, magenta, pink, brown and black, orange and various shades of green. Most of the women’s lab coats in the darker colors are used in veterinarian’s offices to hide the dirt. And most of the lighter colored lab coats are worn in pediatric doctor’s offices and dental offices.

Women lab coats, no matter what the color, can the Woman's name is embroidered on the pocket helps to remember the name. This is a good idea for patients, they typically stress the doctor's office or hospital is, pretty much normal circumstances, be a man's name is easy to forget.

I recently sat down with our resident supplement guru Dave Barr. We talked about protein, supplements, carbs, insulin, leucine, and what he’s got in store for us for next week’s teleconference.

Read on Dave’s forgotten more about nutrition than most people will ever know, and you can take his advice straight to the bank…

CS: Dave thanks for the interview! First, I know you’re joining us for a teleconference on October 8th- what’s the most important question I could ask you?

DB: The question you could ask me is: “What’s the most important piece of information you can gather for someone who’s interested in changing their body or performance?”

That piece of information is whether the person is happy with the current progress.

People I talk to from the site are not, which can actually be a good thing. It means that they’re not complacent and they expect more. At the same time we need to look at why results aren’t coming as quickly or easily as they’d like. Then we work to get them where they want to be.

Remember: you work too hard to settle for mediocrity.

CS: If you could take only 3 supplements, what would they be and why?

DB: This is a great follow up question to my article entitled: “3 Supplements You Should Be Using”.

#1 would be fish oil. Always. Always. Always.

The sheer number of physiological effects this nutrient subtype can have on our body is nothing short of amazing. The more I learn, the more I want to run to my fridge and start guzzling my lemon flavored oil.

The problem is that people don’t use enough to experience the most dramatic effects.

#2? Creatine. I just like the cell swelling from an aesthetic standpoint, and the performance enhancing effects are well documented. There are also health benefits, as well as the enhanced ability to perform high-level thinking (although I’ve occasionally been accused of not needing this benefit). It may be too simple to say that “it makes you smarter”, but it’s not completely inaccurate.

#3 is tough. I’ve been learning a lot about both acid-base balance and the nervous system, which is where Greens products and carnitine come into play respectively.

I’ll go with the Green because it’s next to impossible for people (read: ME) to get enough fruits and vegetables. This isn’t just for health, but fat loss and muscle growth/recovery as well.

As an athlete I’d cycle in carnitine for short intense training periods and competition.

Lastly, I’d like to point out that whey protein was not a consideration on this list because I consider it more of a nutritional staple than a supplement.

CS: Carbs- good or evil?

DB: For most people they’re patently evil. We just don’t need them in the quantities that they’re being used, and our physiques (not to mention our health) are suffering as a result. It pains me to say that because there’s nothing I love more than carb-laden sweets, but in this industry I don’t think the word “moderation” can be thrown around enough!

CS: Can you expand on that?

DB: Look, fat loss is all about insulin control, and the predominant mediator of this is carbs. Control the carbs and you’re going to lose weight.

And I can’t comment on this topic without bringing up the archaic notion that we need to load carbs after training. People have been doing this for more than a decade, but is it helping our physiques and performance? Come on.

I’d like to add the caveat that carbs are great for people with very high training volumes, and skinny people looking to improve muscle mass and strength, but this is a small subset compared to the rest.

CS: Protein- good or…sorry, I mean, how much?

DB: MORE.

Protein is the best “bang for your buck” calorie source for pretty much anyone. It can help with both muscle building and weight loss. Guys in lab coats like to point out that protein can also be stored as fat, but they need to wake up to the reality that compared to carbs and fats, that idea is a joke. People aren’t getting fat off of protein.

Whey protein itself is particularly beneficial, so I like to see people consuming the standard 1g/lb to start (with whey supplementation). Once this becomes easy and people want to ramp up their results, this should be increased to 1.5g/lb. This comes at the expense of some carbs, but mostly it’s the addition of Calories in the form of protein. It’s called protein stepping or protein ramping, and I’ll explain how to do it during the Training Summit.

For those on low-carb diets, 2-3g/lb is not unheard of, but bear in mind that all of this is within the context of the persons lifestyle. In others words, we need to find a compromise between 100% dystopian ideal and what’s realistically possible for you.

CS: At a recent nutrition conference in Vegas, all the scientist-geeks were talking about Leucine- to the point of saying “don’t even worry how much protein you eat, worry about how much Leucine you ingest.” Anything to that?

DB: Hey I’m a science geek! But I just remembered that you’re a martial arts expert so I’ll back off and answer the question.

I agree that leucine supplementation is incredible and I’m looking forward to sharing a new protocol with people next week! The problem with such a blanket statement however, is that it ignores two KEY points:

1) The main problem for people not gaining muscle/strength isn’t a lack of “muscle building” stimulus; it’s calories! And where should that extra caloric energy come from? Protein!

2) As discussed above, protein is the best source of calories for people on fat loss diets as well. Although leucine can preserve, or even build, muscle during this process, ignoring the importance of protein would lead to catastrophic failure.

CS: Any closing thoughts?

DB: I’d like to reiterate that if people are happy with their current results and progress then that’s great! But if you’re on this website, you’re not simply content. You want more, and well you should -you deserve it. Raise your expectations and then let’s figure out how you can do it.

CS: Thanks for your time Dave. I also invite people to check out one of past tele-seminars available several times monthly to our coaching group members. This one with Dr. Lonnie Lowery

http://instantTeleseminar.com/?eventid=3299151 and a reminder that This week's guest on David.

If you ever dreamed of making money without doing anything legally and you don’t need any skills to do it, then there is a dream job out there for you right now! In fact, sometimes it is encouraged that you’re lazy, drink and eat a lot or do anything that you want! The people who are giving the money to you are desperate for people like this. So how can you earn $2000 a week without doing nothing?

To earn that money and do nothing, you have to work as a lab rat. That is, you are a person which companies, government organizations or university test medication on. In short quick terms, it means you are a drug tester.

The people who are doing the testing will test how effective the medication are. To qualify for the test or study, you have to pass a set of medical history and test such as blood work, urine analysis, blood pressure, weight, height and many other medical tests. If you passed and made it into the test, you can make a lot of money.

In the tests, you might have to stay at the organization for a while to test the efficacy of the medication, so most of the time you are doing nothing. Most probably you’ll do anything you want during the tests, but occasionally you’ll have to do a blood test or some medical tests to see if there is any changes to your body. Sometimes you are allowed to stay home and report back after a few days. After you finish the test or study, you will receive a pay check from them. You can earn $6000 for 20 days or even $23,000 for 3 months! Usually the higher the risk from the medication, the higher the pay!

A lot of organizations such as NASA, drug companies such as Pfizer or large universities conduct these tests. It’s very easy to apply for, all you need to do is contact any large university or drug company and ask if there any studies going on that you can apply for.

A great way to get a leg up on the competition when seeking out a new job is to see what the job blogs have to offer. If you conduct a Google, Yahoo, or Bing search looking for job blogs you will be bombarded with millions of returns. Some are worth reading every single day and most are quite simply a waste of your time, but how do you know which job blogs are worth reading?

While you can always go onto the bigger job sites such as Career Builder and Monster.com to read over their blogs, those tend to be a bit more impersonal. Here are some job blogs that will provide you with a wealth of information using some traditional methods and some not so traditional methods:

o Personal Branding: This blog is all about helping you to brand yourself and your image. These days it is not enough to have great skills and a wonderful resume. Employers are now going after those who can best ‘market’ themselves and their skills and convey why they will make the perfect fit for the position.

o CAREEREALISM: The creator of this blog states that it was created because the old methods of job searching simply don’t work anymore. The blog has many video entries and often features guest blogs by some of the top names in the job seeking industry. The blog offers cutting edge advice on first finding, then keeping a great job.

o JobGoRound: The author of this blog writes ideas and tips for those looking to shift gears in their career life. Because staying at the same job for a lifetime is a notion that is not seen much these days it is important to know when to look for other opportunities and how to go about it.

o Penelope Trunk’s Brazen Careerist: Trunk is known for her ability to use personal experiences within the blog and offers a lot of conventional wisdom about career choices. She also tells it like it is and never candy-coats anything which is a refreshing change from many of the job blogs out today.

o Punk Rock HR: The author of this blog has done time for various Fortune 500 companies and writes about those experiences in the blog. HR, which is an acronym for human resources, is often the first point of contact for someone seeking a job at a company. The author’s witty and often funny insight sheds light on the other side of the fence helping you be prepared for what is to come and what is to be expected of you.

Once again there are many other job blogs that you can view but you will be hard-pressed to find many that rival the wit, talent, and flat out accuracy of these job blogs. While a good job tip is a good job tip, a good job blog is an almost endless supply of good job tips and will help even the most novice of job seekers find a career that they can really sink their teeth into.

Good job, good job, tip end, a good business blog, good advice for businesses and job seekers to undertake an almost infinite amount of it should be pointed out to help the most inexperienced for the job.

There are so many choices now when it comes to to dog fashion apparel world. Often times it as simple as answering these questions on where to start. When looking for and deciding on what to buy for your dog take a look at theses 3 easy steps to clothing your dog:

1. What style will your dog like?

Just like you, your dog has their own style. I found this out with my male Yorkshire Terrier. He enjoys wearing t-shirts, tanks & coats that wrap around him and secure underneath. He also loves to wear scarves on special occasions. He looks his best in in reds, oranges and blues.

2. Sizing your dog?

It is not as complicated as it seems. I personally have followed these guidelines for my Yorkie.

To determine the size of your dog, measure your dogs neck, chest and the length of your dogs back with a tape-measure.

NECK: Measure around your dogs neck with just enough room added as you feel it will be comfortable for them.

CHEST: The front legs, chest and back one step to go straight all the way around. The most important measure garments. Very small, it easily out of the big four the number of pools that are not suitable.

Tail up: measure the length from the base station Thurs. Stop is set to wear the item again. If it's not the chest, back length, it does not matter. If measurement fallsbetween two sizes, select the larger size.

3. What kind of clothes should you buy for your dog?

It is all about personal choice and what your dog feels the most comfortable and proud in. I notice when I get one of my Yorkshire Terrier t-shirts out, he jumps for joy and can not wait for me to put it on him. Then he prances around so everyone can she how cut he looks. During the winter he is thrilled to wear his coat outside so he can be warm when we go on walks. In short finding what Fashion, as well as my best friend is not funny. Gaedeuleulwihan such a cute dog clothes and enjoy shopping.

Forensic nursing is a relatively new and continually growing field. Recognized by the American Nurses Association, it is one of the newest forms of forensic sciences. For those looking for even more excitement in their work (not that life in the hospital is not exciting enough), this form of nursing can be the answer. Popularized and romanticized by such TV series as CSI, forensic investigation involves high dramas, suspense, and a little bit (or a lot) of action. The mere fact of working on criminal cases is suspenseful, not to mention, hair-raising. It is quickly becoming a popular part of the American judicial system.

What do they do?

Primarily gather and analyze forensic evidence or information that can be used in the court of law. Aside from gathering forensic evidence, they also need to testify in trials of their jurisdictions. Forensic nurses, more often than not, deal with victims of violence. Because multiple people including the police, doctors, and social workers see the victim, it can be hard and confusing for the victim. A forensic nurse that can do all processes and procedures from start to finish including going to trial and make it easier and less stressful for the victim. Thus, they are ideally sympathetic and caring. It is the perfect opportunity for nurses who want to be more active in the community and help victims of violence, particularly women and children. While forensic nursing is a specialization, it is further subdivided into diverse fields such as emergency trauma, domestic violence, and sexual assault nurse examiners (SANE’s). SANE is often the entry point for most registered nurses who want to get into forensic nursing. Furthermore, they can also serve as legal nurse attorneys or consultants.

How forensic nursing came to be

The founding of the International Association of Forensic Nurses or the IAFN resulted from the first national convention for sexual assault for nurses, which was held in 1992. The association was established to develop the nurses’ role in the future of forensic science as well as the healthcare industry in relation to forensic research and resources.

How to get into this field?

Registered nurses who want to get into need to specialize in forensic training or finish a Masters Degree or specialization in the preferred or related field. Advance education for forensic nursing varies and degree programs are available for forensic nursing but may not be required for an RN to enter the profession. The easiest route would probably be to finish a certificate course for the SANE program.

Where do they work?

You can work in different fields and are hired by various types of employers. Some of the places where they can work include correctional institutions, psychiatric facilities, healthcare facilities, medical examiner’s offices, county prosecutors, coroner’s offices, and insurance companies. Forensic nurses can also choose to work Employers, and various forms of work, or more to start a business based on their independent work.

Most dogs are born with a natural “coat,” although there are some hairless breeds such as the American hairless terrier, the hairless Chinese crested, the hairless khala, the Peruvian Inca orchid and the xoloitzcuintli. The history of placing human clothing on dogs is said to have begun during the reign of King Arthur around 520 A.D., when the dogs that were used as part of the military wore clothing to protect them from the elements and from attack.

Today, dogs used by police departments may wear clothing for protection, including bullet-proof vests, and service dogs wear special vests to let people know they’re doing their jobs and for better visibility.

For the most part, however, pet owners like to dress their dogs up to make them look cute, although some dogs, including the smaller breeds, such as chihuahuas, mini schnauzers, toy poodles and other toy breeds, require dog clothes to keep them warm in cold weather.

Dog clothes and accessories are many and include:

dog shoes and socks
T-shirts
dresses
shorts
pants
swimwear
diapers
costumes
dog sweaters
jackets
coats
hats
jewelry
breed-specific dog clothes such as bulldog hoodies

Dog clothes come in a variety of sizes, styles and price ranges. You can usually find clothes for your tiny chihuahua or for your lab. Most dog clothes are suited to the small to medium breeds but there are some clothes made large enough for the larger breeds.

There are even eco-friendly dog sweaters that are manufactured from “scraps” of cotton that are too small to do anything with and would otherwise end up in an incinerator but are made into very stylish and colorful sweaters, thus saving the earth from more chemicals and saving water because they don’t have to grow or dye any more cotton.

Relatively new is an eco-friendly dog jacket that’s made from 100% recycled polyester fabric that is recyclable again after your dog either outgrows it or wears it out. It has reflective flares on the back of the jacket to keep your dog visible on dark rainy days or at nighttime.

Some dogs apparently like to dress up for Halloween as there are many dog costumes available. If your dog wants to be a clown, a football player, a skeleton, a pumpkin, a fairy, a penguin, a flower, a bumblebee, a cop or a dinosaur, you can find a costume for him this Halloween. Don’t forget to keep his feet warm with socks and shoes. You can find a variety of sock styles and colors and also a variety of shoes, including sandals, boots, sneakers and moccasins.

Dog hats can include top hats, cowboy hats, bucket hats, Santa hats and elf hats.

If you’re looking for a collar for your dog, there are numerous styles to choose from, whether you like plain leather or something fancier with spikes, flowers, glitter, snake print, ribbon, bandanna style or light-up. They, too, come in a wide price range. Most pet owners consider dog collars as a necessity, even if they don’t dress their dogs in clothes. Collars are essential if you want your dog to carry identification. Some dogs wear necklaces, tiaras, bows, hairpins and charms.

Dog clothes have come a long way since King Arthur’s days, from being necessary for protection to sometimes being necessary for warmth but more often making a fashion statement. What does your dog’s wardrobe look like?
